Even with great oral hygiene, sometimes cavities can still happen. That’s why our award-winning team is here to help. What are Tooth-Colored Fillings?

Also called composite fillings, tooth-colored fillings use a composite resin of plastics, glass particles or ceramics. This high-quality resin recreates the strength and natural look of your enamel for a seamless restoration. Tooth-colored fillings can be used on the front teeth as well as the chewing surfaces of the back teeth to fill cavities and other issues in the surface of your enamel.

What are the Benefits of Tooth-Colored Fillings?

Unlike silver, gold or other fillings, tooth-colored fillings contain no metals such as mercury or tin. Silver fillings can often cause the surrounding tooth structure to darken or turn gray over time, compromising the appearance of your smile. The composite resin we use can be shaded to closely match your natural tooth and doesn’t cause discoloration.

Tooth-colored fillings chemically bond to the structure of your tooth when placed, helping to strengthen it and provide additional support for your restoration. This means we can often repair your tooth without needing to remove as much material as we do with metal fillings, making tooth-colored fillings a more conservative restoration method.

The composite resin can also be used in other dental and cosmetic restorations. We use the resin to repair chipped or cracked teeth, reshape irregularly sized or shaped teeth, fill gaps between teeth, or treat discolorations in the enamel.

How Long do Tooth-Colored Fillings Last?

With proper oral hygiene and regular dental checkups, your tooth-colored filling can last for many years. Be sure to schedule an appointment every six months to assess the condition of your fillings. It’s important to brush and floss daily to maintain good hygiene and prevent the need for further restorations.

I have been going to Dr. Haake for a really long time and have always had a really good experience. I always get really great dental hygienists and love that you can pick a Pandora station before they start. I will continue to refer and will be taking my little boys to see Dr. Haake once they are of age to go!

Excellent experience from walking in the door to leaving. I had a 10:50 appointment and at 10:50 I was in the chair. The staff and dentist do their best to make your visit a positive experience. Both Dr. Haake and Dr. Boydston made my 2 visits there a great experience.
